Wow, what a day … that started with yawns and ended with a sore head and body ,but filled with surprises, smiles and satisfaction.
July 2nd was a classic example of what CAN happen when individual efforts are channeled in pursuit of a goal.
We know the below is a long list, but generalizing, just did not do justice.
Seeing everyone at the toll
- especially the kids – half asleep but already pumped up at 6am,
- the newbies-who had no idea who the others were or what they were going to do,
- the repeaters- who knew their roles and were ready for the day.
- gave a fresh boost to the morning.
A quick breakfast followed by a round of introductions and the battalion set off to Suvarnahalli.
Here, the pre-divided books were handed over to the respective batches and the first batch got off to surprising the Suvarnahalli kids, while others drove off to cater to their own designated schools.
While the Fun team kept the kids at Thatenahalli occupied, with their games, dance classes and hygiene talk, the other volunteers gathered back here, to setup the book and stationery distribution.
The actual distribution was quick and smooth, thanks to the team of boys who handled the books and the people who managed the children accordingly.
A quick pack-up and everyone were off to Ramasagara.
As before, the hygiene talk was looked forward to while the science session was a sweet surprise to the older kids.
Tired, hungry and thirsty, the team had a quick snack and set off to the magnanery (the site of sericulture, or silk farming) for lunch.
The filling south-Indian lunch had never felt more satisfactory.
A round of mango distributions and the troop split into the respective cars to start the journey back home.
Good news, everybody could reach by 9:30pm for their dinner. Attendance taken from whatsapp !!!
Good nights and an unconscious sense of satisfaction, to end the wonderful day.
