Events: 2013

Hi Friends, one of the best days we had in the past year.

The distribution drive went on smooth..Thanks to the wads of hands that helped. convened at Old Madras Road. After a brief exchange of luggage and deciding on the travel, we set off on our exciting excursions.amasagara school and Kasturba Hostel … morning prayers and bhajans greeting us, tuning our minds to a mellow benevolent mood.

Once the children assembled, a little introduction was given about the program, by the head-mistress.

The class toppers were anxious and some even surprised.

Once the awards were given out, they became the point of discussion and attention.

The others in the class, then realized what it meant to be a topper. We could see a little glimmer of competition and a thought about working towards it.

A few more speeches and honoring and we went on to distribute the books and pencil boxes.

After this..we divided ourselves into two teams, to cover the long list.

Team 1:

  • Kiran
  • Prakash Tamhankar
  • Santosh Joshi

Team 2:

  • Padmanjali
  • Mahesh Kulkarni
  • Ramya Jagadeesh

While Team 1 went about on a distribution rampage, Team 2 took time in the schools to connect to the kids.

Some even treated us with poems, songs and dances. Thanks to Mahesh who was the life.

It was around 3:30 by the time we finished.

Tired and famished, we were quick to freshen up and assemble at the table, for a gratifying lunch at Ramasagara.

A stroll around the vast house and we picked up Jackfruits to take home.

Next stop: Mango farm.

While the mangoes were being picked and packed, we set out for a walk in the pleasant evening.

Saw the plantains closely while Ramya, the amateur photographer had her treat of experiments.

The walk was complete with a little visit to the white hairless caterpillars and a crash course in gobar gas.

A cup of tea, and we started our journey back home.

What was actually given

The 20 meritorious’ girls were thinking of occasions to wear their new gold colored watches.

15 boys who topped their class grew too busy flaunting their new sporty digital watches.

3240 (80 pages – 2040 Short and 1200 Long) books and 120 Slates were given away to 950 students accompanied by 975 sets of stationery.
