What happens when a team of 10, wake up with an united purpose. Yes…they succeed.
Leaping over the surprising hurdles thrown at us (a usual “road-rash” – courtesy Bangalore Traffic), we hurried for a quick breakfast and zipped to Ramasagara (120 Kms).
Though quite late (actually…very late !!!), the kids opted to postpone their lunch to oblige us.
The knock-out matches/events were conducted and the winners were awaiting.
Mr. Sun tried to push us indoors but he didn’t know who he was up against. We ignored him completely while having a bash against witty questions (G.K – Open Quiz).
After a long round of brain-boggling, we had to move on to the actual distribution of book and stationery.
The anxious Toppers (of class) and Winners (of Sports) were fulfilled with their mementoes.
The startup lab-kit was explained and inventoried immediately.
While girl-volunteers spent a dainty time with the high-schoolers for a pep-talk and to learn more about their issues and needs, the boys packed-up.
Next stop…LUNCH !!!
A Home-made, South-Indian, Traditional, plantain-leaf – Spread, with yummy mango desert. Refreshing, Gratifying and Mellow.
We then split into two groups, one headed to Vengasandara and the other to Gopenahalli; planned to rendezvous at Hulkur.
The cultural activities (Kolata and Janapada Nruthya) at Hulkur, pushed us back to the times of DD’s (Doordarshan) evening live shows.
Albeit tardy, the kids were sated with enthusiasm when we started a small round of quiz.
As multiple schools had participated in the cultural events, the winners were announced and awarded.
The books and stationery distribution turned chaotic and exhaustive. There was an unanimous “HUFF” from every one of as, at the end.
A trifle walk around the mango farm topped off by a just-picked mango, savoured by all, concurred to the tired limbs.
After a cup of hot tea, there were a round of “Thank-yous”, “Goodnights” and “Byes”.
We were all glad that we pulled the whole thing off and that the next day was a SATURDAY. Aah..that moment !!!
